Nomination of Bilkis Vissandjée in the list of Canadian Women in Global Health – Faculty of Nursing

Bilkis Vissandjée, full professor at the Faculty of Nursing, appears in the 2020 edition of the list of Canadian Women in Global Health, unveiled during the 26e Canadian Conference on Global Health organized by the Canadian Society for International Health (CSIS) from October 19 to 22, 2020.

Bilkis Vissandjée is also a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences and a researcher at the SHERPA Research and Training Center of the CIUSSS Center-Ouest de l’Île de Montréal as well as at the Center d’études et de recherche internationales de l ‘Montreal university. In collaboration with community organizations, she directs and participates in differentiated strategies for taking into account issues of equity, diversity and inclusion aimed at improving the conditions as well as the determinants of access to health services in the context of cultural and linguistic diversity. Among other activities, she managed two large-scale training of trainers projects (Lebanon and Morocco) funded by CIDA, now Global Affairs Canada. She represents the University of Montreal at the Indo-Canadian Shastri Institute. It works in collaboration with the Ministry of International Relations of Quebec, the United Nations (sensitivity to gender issues and social health relations), the Research Center for International Development (Benin, Madagascar, Nepal), and the Network of Aga Khan Development Agency (India, Pakistan, Tanzania).

Since its launch in 2018, this initiative of the Canadian Women in Global Health (#CWIGH) network has recognized the achievements of women leaders in global health, both nationally and internationally, to help promote equity and inclusion in health and from a perspective of gender equality.
