TVIt had been a while and Thursday the time had finally come: in ‘Thuis’ Frank and his love rival Dirk fought each other. Simonne was the bet. According to a poll of soap opera viewers, a rift in the main couple Frank & Simonne now seems inevitable.

Dark clouds
Dark clouds have long loomed over the marriage of Frank Bomans (Pol Goossens) and his Simonneke (Marleen Merckx). Suske, as Frank loves to call his wife fondly, confessed last season to flirting with a man named Dirk (Ron Cornet) on a cruise. Frank then flared into fierce rage and even headed for a breakup. Simonne was so overwhelmed that she wanted to pack her bags to move to her daughter Kaat in Finland. Away from Frank too to build a new life elsewhere. In the season finale just before summer, the two hugged at the last minute and vowed to choose each other and always be honest with each other from now on.
To promise
Simonne hasn’t been able to keep that promise in the past few weeks. When Dirk suddenly reappeared in her life recently, she hid it from Frank. The cruise employee told her that she is now retired and was in the area to arrange the inheritance of her late aunt. She left him a house near the Withoeve. Dirk is temporarily staying in the Withoeve, but he liked it so much that he wants to settle down near the Dreef. To start a new life, but perhaps also to give a new chance to his feelings and those of Simonne. But that’s how he pushes the whole romance into the limelight.
Which on Thursday caused a clash between the two love rivals. Since Frank sometimes passes alongside Withoeve, it was inevitable. Frank had met the “charming” man before, but he hadn’t realized he was “the Dirk of the cruise”. When this occurred to him on Thursday, he rushed to the Withoeve. With one punch he punched the bloody nose of his love rival as he wildly exclaimed: “Nobody touches my Suske!” Dirk must have understood the message by now.
Hidden tip
Or is this fight just the beginning of a whole saga? It seems more like that, because Dirk has not only reappeared in history, but this time also in the opening credits. And this is usually the TV producers’ hidden hint that a character will continue to star in the series for a long time and provide action. And that means in this case: for an explosive love triangle.
“The presence of Dirk in the opening credits really means that he will be in the show for a while and that Frank and Simonne’s marriage will be tested,” says ‘Thuis’ producer Hans Roggen. “Whether Frank’s fight with Dirk will be experienced by viewers as iconic as Marianne and Rosa’s ‘sacoch fight’ at the time? It remains to be seen. We rather expect not, because the narrative is different now. This time it’s just a punch and a very short confrontation. At that time, Rosa and Marianne had to pull and push for quite some time. Certainly without real shots and also without sacoches. Even if a “sacoch struggle” remains in the memory of many. (laughs) There have been more and more hits in ‘Thuis’ in the past. Although we can imagine that the exclamation ‘Nobody touches my Suske’ will remain forever in everyone’s memory “.
The podcast “Nostalgia di casa” organized a mini survey among “Casa” viewers. The absolute majority (93 percent) think that Frank and Simonne’s marital bliss will soon be completely and permanently shattered. Your fault, Simonne.
