Lidl launches an extraordinary new product. Czechs are enthusiastic, they will save a lot of money

The Lidl store chain has prepared another big event for its customers, which has the potential to make shopping in its stores more enjoyable. He was the first to launch the checkout project some time ago, in which he sells fruit and vegetables at a symbolic price, which he had to withdraw from the shelves due to minor defects.

A big change in business strategy

However, as is well known, there is still a lot of waste in retail chains. A lot of food is thrown away simply because it has passed the minimum shelf life or expiration date. However, stores have so far found it worthwhile to sell at full price rather than compete with themselves by selling too cheap goods that they have to get rid of.

However, it appears to be changing. It is Lidl that wants to reduce waste in other assortment categories as well. That is, especially those where the goods are really fast moving and must be consumed in a few days. These are meat and fish, refrigerated products and bulk baked goods.

Lidl began testing the sale of these foods shortly before the expiration date in several of its stores. He fixed fixed prices for them, which amount to 25, 10 and 5 crowns. They also create special discounted pieces for them, where you can always find products at these prices that need to be consumed quickly.

Salmon for two

Apparently, customers will be able to save a lot with these discount corners, right in the categories that have seen many price increases recently. For example, the popular salmon is currently hard to find for many families. However, in such a corner you can find it in a 300 gram pack for the price of 25 crowns. Yes, the expiration date is always the same day, but it can be managed.

Lidl, in addition to underlining the reduction of waste, apparently takes an example from today’s “discount stores”, ie shops where the goods are sold shortly before or even after the deadline, and obviously with a considerable discount.
