In the fight against the pandemic, US President Donald Trump is not quarantining the particularly badly affected New York area.
Most proven infections
A large part of the deaths are in the state of New York, where the corona virus has spread particularly quickly in recent days. Governor Andrew Cuomo had given the number of deaths there on Saturday with more than 700.
The USA is the country with the most proven infections with the Sars-CoV-2 pathogen – the number currently stands at more than 121,100. Experts assume a high number of unreported cases. More than 10,000 people have died in Italy since the pandemic began. That is the highest number in the world.
Trump wants “travel advice”
Despite these numbers, US President Trump does not quarantine in New York. Instead, he had instructed the health authorities to issue “travel advice”, as he announced on Twitter.
These recommendations should be drawn up by the governors of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut in collaboration with their governments. The disease control centers would provide details on Saturday. Trump himself had previously mentioned that the east coast region could be sealed off.
