Kuttanad: Biyar Prasad was fond of writing from the age of eight. During his undergraduate studies in 1977 and 78, he became more interested in writing and drama. Biyar Prasad announced his arrival on the art scene by acting and directing a theater play in Balarama with his friends.
Sri Muruka Theaters formed in Mankombi with friends. Beyar’s closeness with Kavalam Narayana Panicker inspired him to write several excellent one-act plays. Chakala Govinthem, a one-act play, was noted. The play, which won several awards, was later expanded and staged in Thiruvananthapuram. Everyone was acknowledging Biyar Prasad’s art along with applause from celebrities in the field of cinema and theatre.
The song Kera Nirakaladum Haritha Charu Thiram from the film Jalotsavam was not considered for the award despite being the title song of the film. Later as requested by director Priyadarshan, Beeyar Prasad wrote the memorable song in Kili Chundan Mambazham. With this Beyar also made a mark in Malayalam cinema.
Vineeth Srinivasan’s first song “Kasav’s Thattamitta” was also written by Beeyar Prasad. With the song becoming a hit, this native had plenty of opportunities. His father, Balakrishna Panicker, who was an employee of Devaswom Board, also inspired Biyar Prasad’s artistic career. Idaka’s reading was copied from Achan. Subsequently, the drama, novel writing, acting and direction were handled by Biyar Prasad.
