No Man’s Sky brings alive ships, players want something different

The space open world game No Man’s Sky surprised with a major update on February 19. That brought really cool content, but the players would rather have something completely different.

What was that update? Patch 2.3 is called “Living Ship” and that is exactly what it says. So you get new spaceships that consist of living beings.

It starts with a story quest and then it is about hatching and raising your biological ship. There should be a wide variety of variants and ways of life. The technology in the living ship should also differ from the classic spaceships and should not only consist of pure material grind.

So the Living Ships sound cool and many players are happy about the new and somewhat surprising game expansion, especially since they are is also useful for single players, But actually they would have liked to have had something else.

What is the problem? No Man’s Sky is all about discovering and exploring worlds. Spaceships are necessary for this, but they do not bring new planets, flora and fauna with them.

In reddit, many players therefore express a desire for new content to explore and hope that the developers of Hello Games will notice this.

The desire for new worlds is great

What do the players say? In the reddit thread on the patch notes, many praise the update, but the desire for new worlds is significantly greater. So is in the current top comment from User Njagos:

The ships look cool, but I’m more interested in space encounters and objects. Everything that makes exploring more entertaining.

I will not visit the game again until it gets a revision of the exploration and terrain […],

Maybe you have a team working on a huge exploration / fauna / terrain / planet update and another team working on these little updates like this one.

This gets a lot of encouragement and other users also express a desire for new content that can be explored:

  • Ezi091: “Now only a good update on the variation of the planets and the exploration is missing and this game would be perfect. Seeing the same plants and animals since they were released is no fun in an exploration game. ”
  • Rainbow Lemon: “I feel like they are not reading the players’ comments. The extra space exploration is cool, but it’s not diverse enough to get me back. ”
  • Consistent_Bar: “The update looks good, but once again they clearly ignore the greatest wish of the community and that is a greater diversity among the planets.”

The big update Beyond already weakened: It appeared in August 2019 major update 2.0 titled Beyond, That brought many innovations such as:

but no really new content to explore by the way. Even the small follow-up updates are currently lagging behind.

Merchant ships and speaking NPCs

What else did the latest update bring? In addition to the living spaceships, Update 2.3 contained some small and useful changes:

  • There are now merchant ships in space that you can encounter, help, and trade with
  • Management of the inventory has been simplified
  • There is a better group system for multiplayer content
  • NPCs can greet you through the communicator in the middle of space
  • There were all sorts of bug fixes and optimizations
