Ninova: We have caught a drastic speculation, we will take draconian measures

CORNELIA NINOVA

Artificially creating tension, we have no shortage of goods. However, due to the artificial tension, there is demand and prices are rising. We will fight hard against speculation, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Cornelia Ninova to Georgi Lyubenov on BNT.

There are many drastic cases of speculation found during inspections, she added, pointing to three times the prices at which traders sell compared to those at which they bought the product.

It is possible that we will take draconian measures to restrict exports and prices, as some countries in Europe are already taking. Yes, this is a warning to traders who want to get rich in a few days on the backs of Bulgarian consumers, said the Deputy Prime Minister.

These are not repressive measures, these are measures prescribed by law. At the same time, we are still applying soft measures in our country, in the EU they have already switched to hard ones, she explained.

Some countries have banned the export of grain and oil. There are already similar restrictions in Romania. In Spain, a price cap was imposed, Ninova gave specific examples.

People are extremely worried about prices and impoverishment, this should be at the forefront of government policy – how to transfer Bulgarians with fewer losses during this crisis.

Our coalition partners in the government and in the EU countries have sobered up with regard to sanctions against Russia in the exact direction in which the BSP insisted and warned, Ninova commented. They realized that hard sanctions were not the way out.

The BSP leader reiterated the position that we do not need NATO forces in our country to protect us, because there is nothing. Bulgaria will not export weapons to Ukraine, this is a red line that we will not allow ourselves to cross, Ninova said.
