Niantic launches ar-basketball: NBA All-World

NBA All-World is the name of a new game from Niantic, the company behind the successful Pokémon Go and since then has embarked on various ventures in collaboration with other companies – Harry Potter (discontinued), Settlers of Catan (discontinued during beta), Transformers (under development) and Pikmin (under development).

The new game is of course a basketball game and will mix familiar game elements from Pokémon Go with basketball and the only screenshot that has been shared so far shows relatively realistic 3d.

Players will, among other things, walk around their surroundings and find basketball boots and other equipment, challenge other players in one-on-one matches and build a team. You will also be able to play as various real NBA stars, but how it will work with thousands of players is not clear.

On the game frugal website players can register interest, and Niantic writes that the game will be soft-launched in selected markets soon.
