NHNe in black numbers

It is a first since 2013, the Neuchâtel Hospital Network (RHNe) presented profit accounts on Friday. The 2019 financial year ended with a profit of almost 3 million francs, while the budget was counting on a balanced budget.

Ambulatory and stationary activity on the rise

This exceptional financial situation can be explained in particular by the development of ambulatory and stationary activity. This increased patient-related revenue by 24 million compared to 2018 (+ 8.7%), while at the same time, the increase in charges did not reach 16 million (4.7 %). RHNe announces in a press release that ambulatory and stationary services are increasing on all its sites and underlines an increased activity on the site of La Chaux-de-Fonds.

The 2019 financial year ended with an operating profit of 34.3 million francs. The latter takes into account an extraordinary subsidy of 32 million granted by the State and the depreciation of the buildings sold to the latter of 4.1 million. With the capitalization of the institution by the State (200 million), the balance sheet at December 31, 2019 is fully cleaned up.

An uncertain future

RHNe warns of very strong financial pressure in the coming years. On the one hand, the reduction in the payment of general interest benefits by the canton should mean the loss of ten million francs for finance. On the other hand, the Covid-19 pandemic will also have a significant impact with a shortfall of several million for the 2020 financial year. In its press release, RHNe evokes future discussions with the State to obtain possible support in the aim to mitigate the effects of the health crisis. / comm-dsa
