Drachenfels: Unknown people steal the summit cross from the Siegfried rock

Since 1987, a summit cross has stood on the Siegfried rock, 1.20 meters high, solid steel, firmly screwed and secured with two guy ropes – and now disassembled. As the “Rheinische Post” reports, unknown persons have stolen the steel cross, the value of which is estimated at around 1000 euros. “The entire construction has been dismantled,” reports Gerhard Müller, the deputy chairman of the Beautification Association for the Siebengebirge (VVS). The theft must have been quite complex, because the way to the summit leads through a dense forest, after which you have to climb. The Siegfried rock is part of the Drachenfels mountain range and rises 321 meters above the Rhine.

Tübingen: Ecstasy tablet swallowed – 13-year-old collapses and dies

A 13-year-old died in a Tübingen clinic after swallowing an ecstasy tablet. A police officer and the public prosecutor said Tuesday that a 15-year-old who allegedly gave him the pill was being investigated. The accused has so far denied the allegations. The 13-year-old was traveling with two friends in Münsingen on the Swabian Alb on Sunday evening when he collapsed. The two friends alerted the rescue workers. The condition of the adolescent had deteriorated so much that he died after a few hours, it was said. An autopsy should clarify the exact cause of death.

One of the adolescent’s companions had given the rescue workers a hint that the 13-year-old had apparently knowingly swallowed the ecstasy tablet. The police are also investigating indications that the 15-year-old could have bought the pill on the so-called Darknet – a particularly protected area on the Internet – without even knowing the ingredients and the active ingredient content.

So far, there is no evidence that the accused adolescent has given more tablets to other people, the message said. Nevertheless, the authorities warned not only in principle not to take ecstasy tablets, but also specifically to consume substances from the Darknet.

Dithmarschen: helicopter pulls three men out of the mudflats

A strange rescue operation took place in Dithmarschen late Wednesday evening. Three men were on the boat and tried to walk to the shore after the boat broke. They sank to the chest in the mud flats and were unable to free themselves from the stuck mud. They were still able to make an emergency call using a mobile phone. Due to the progressive darkness, however, the rescue team could not identify the men at first. The fire brigade divers who were called in were also not very lucky because the area is particularly difficult to penetrate in the dark. Only an alarmed rescue helicopter was able to locate the shipwrecked and pull it out of the mud in two approaches using a winch. The men were put down freezing but in whole pieces on the bank. Operations manager Lars Paulsen then reported to the press portal how crucial the helicopter was for the successful rescue: “Not only getting to the men by land or water would have been very time-consuming and exhausting, but also the liberation from the mud itself. The emergency services would also have sunk into the silt and would not have been able to use the necessary force to pull the people out of the silt! “

Duisburg: police stop fake Ferrari

The officials in Duisburg-Beeck actually thought they were dealing with a Ferrari. But far from it. The red runabout that the police checked on Monday morning was actually a Toyota MR2. The supposed sports car looked deceptively real: red paint, the famous horse on the grille and the yellow emblem on the sides and bonnet. Since “Ferrari” is a protected trademark, the 45-year-old driver now has to deal with a complaint about the violation of the trademark law.

Hamburg: Salzburg-Sylt night train planned

From July 4th, a night train will run between Salzburg and Sylt. Twice a week, the Hamburg railway company RDC will run its own trains as “Alpen-Sylt-Nachtexpress” in both directions by September, reports the “Süddeutsche Zeitung”. The route runs via Prien am Chiemsee, Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Husum – and thus connects several major cities with holiday regions in southern and northern Germany. RDC also operates the DB Autozug to Sylt.

Rail travelers can currently choose between several IC connections to Sylt: There are trains to Sylt from Dresden (via Berlin), Frankfurt, Cologne (via Bremen) and Karlsruhe (via Frankfurt and Hanover). From the island you can get to Dresden (via Berlin), Stuttgart (via Frankfurt, Cologne and Bremen), Frankfurt (via Cologne and Bremen) and Karlsruhe (via Frankfurt and Hanover).

Deutsche Bahn had thinned out its night train network in Germany a few years ago. Three years ago, the Austrian Federal Railroad (ÖBB) took over the loss-making DB night train business. The ÖBB nightjet operation is to be gradually expanded by 2026.

Hamburg: New investigation against police after use against blacks

Against the backdrop of global protests against racist police violence in the USA, a video of a police operation in Hamburg that had been going on for months caused a stir. The prosecutor’s office was again involved in the case, a spokeswoman said on Tuesday. The video, which was still available on YouTube until Tuesday morning, but was no longer released on the platform afterwards, shows how three police officers hold a man with dark skin on the floor of a sidewalk in the Horn district. An official presses the man’s head onto the pavement with both hands.

According to prosecutors, the video shows an operation from August 11 last year. As Hamburg’s Senator for the Interior Andy Grote (SPD) said on Tuesday in the state press conference, it happened after a parking violation. The man, whose car was supposed to be towed, was a French citizen who tried to move away from the scene. “Then he was detained, then there was a scuffle and then – at least that’s the report from the police – it came to this situation that the victim lay on the ground and was detained,” said Grote.

Investigations into the suspicion of assault against the police officers had already started last year, but were later stopped, the spokeswoman for the prosecutor said. At that time, the investigators only had a video of the incident from a different perspective. “This video and the other results of the investigation were not sufficient at the time to justify a sufficient suspicion against the police officers.”

With the new recording now available, the investigation was resumed. The incident is currently being investigated by the Police Internal Investigation Service. “Just to clarify, I would like to point out that the subject of the procedure is not racial allegations, but criminal offenses, in particular assault in the office,” said the spokeswoman.
