New Zealand Beats South Africa by Seven Runs in World Cup Warm-Up Match

Thiruvananthapuram: New Zealand beat South Africa by seven runs in the one-day cricket World Cup warm-up match at Kariyavattam Greenfield Stadium today. After winning the toss, the Kiwis scored 321 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 50 overs. South Africa’s target was reduced to 217 runs in 37 overs due to rain. However, they fell short by seven runs.

Wicket keeper batsman Quinn de Kock got off to a great start for Africa chasing the big target set by the Kiwis. The player remained unbeaten with 84 runs including 12 boundaries and a six. Rassie Vander Dozen provided excellent support to De Kock with 51 runs including nine boundaries. Hentich Klassen (39) also struggled but could not get the winning run.
