New York Stocks End: Dow and S&P set more records to follow | 25.10.21

NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – Before a flood of company reports in the coming days, investors continued to show courage on Monday on the US stock exchanges. After a tough start, the New York indices all moved up and so it was enough for both the Dow Jones Industrial (Dow Jones 30 Industrial) and the S&P 500 for new records. The leading index Dow rose by 0.18 percent to 35,741.15 points at the end. The market-wide S&P 500 gained 0.47 percent to 4566.48 meters.

Investors were even more optimistic about technology stocks before many other US industry giants presented their quarterly results after close of trading and later in the week. The NASDAQ 100 selection index, which is shaped by this sector, was 1.04 percent higher at 15,514.19 points over the finish line. But it also has some catching up to do, after all, unlike the Dow and the S&P, it is still a long way from a record./tih/he
