In the botanical garden of New York, around a million different plants have recently been blooming, as well as art by Yayoi Kusama: The garden has dedicated the exhibition “Cosmic Nature” to the Japanese artist, which includes pictures, sculptures and large-scale installations.

Yayoi Kusama’s trademark is points.
The trademark, or rather the “polka dots” of the 93 year olds are omnipresent. Be it on colorful flowers that are reflected in the water basin of one of the greenhouses, or outside on “the dancing pumpkin” and on oversized fiberglass tulips. Meanwhile, bring silver points in the form of countless floating chrome steel balls a pond to shine and white dots on a red background over tree trunks.
The Botanical Garden is a perfect place for Kusama’s works: Kusama may have discovered her fascination for the flora in her parents’ nursery in Matsumoto. A special highlight of the exhibition also tells about this, a sketchbook in which, as a 16-year-old, she recorded the life cycle of peonies in detail.
