New York: Person burned by firecrackers, among other anti-Semitic attacks

NEW YORK (JTA) – One person was burned when two firecrackers were thrown from a car during an anti-Zionist altercation in a heavily Jewish New York City business district, police said.

The assault took place Thursday evening, as the Palestinian terror group Hamas and Israel established a ceasefire that took effect overnight.

The New York Police Department told the JTA that fireworks had been launched from a car and that a person had been lightly burned. The fire investigation team and investigators are currently reviewing these incidents.

The Israeli consulate in New York said on Friday that the wave of protests had been more violent than what had been seen so far in the area, even when tensions were high.
