New York offers free shuttle to Adirondacks – NBC New York (47)

The good news is that the state will provide a new free shuttle service to people who want to travel to see fall foliage in the Adirondacks starting the first weekend of October in North Hudson.

Shuttle services will run the first two weekends of October from the Frontier Town Gateway to Giant Mountain, Roaring Brook Falls and the Rooster Comb trailheads, as well as the Marcy Field parking lot.

“The most beautiful fall foliage in the world is right here in our state, and New Yorkers deserve to enjoy the scenery safely and affordably,” Governor Hochul said. “To ensure the safety of residents and visitors to the Adirondacks, New York and our many local partners are launching a new transportation service in October that will help prevent congestion along the busy High Peaks corridors and will continue to provide higher quality to the public. open this season foliage.

The Fall Foliage Shuttle stops at the same departure points as the Route 73 Hiker Shuttle from Marcy Field, but the route offers greater access for visitors to further alleviate unsafe and illegal parking in the Route 73 corridor. The Fall Foliage Transportation Program is an expansion of the Fall Foliage Transportation Program. The system Shuttle for hikers on route 73 complements a long-standing service provided by the city of Keene that provides transportation to and from the city-owned Garden Trailhead from the Marcy Field parking area. The city shuttle operates in conjunction with the Route 73 transit system from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays when the Garden parking lot is full. The shuttle offers hikers the opportunity to experience fall foliage from its best vantage point, on the trail, without the hassle of driving and parking at crowded departure points. The transportation system was one of the recommendations in the High Peaks Advisory Group (HPAG) final report on promoting sustainable recreation in Adirondack Park.
