New York Marathon 2022: routes, times and everything you need to know | International

Of the 10 medals that the Scandinavian country boasts in the women’s category, nine have been awarded to Waitz almost consecutively: she was the winner between 1978 and 1980; she returned to the top spot on the podium and lasted for five years, between 1982 and 1986. And she won glory one last time in 1988. If not a goddess of Olympus, Waitz is an icon in the annals of the runway in New York. The competition has acquired such significance that in 2014 you received the Prince of Asturias Award for sport.

What time does the 2022 New York Marathon start?

On Sunday 6 November, various contingents per category will gallop. It is expected that, at eight in the morning, local time, the professional division of wheelchair racersfollowed by handbike sprinters and disabled athletes at 8:20 am.

The women’s professional category opens its participation at 8:40 am and 35 minutes later, at 9:05 am, the men’s category begins. New waves of general category participants will start every 35 minutes starting at 9:10 am. The times for the public therefore start at 9:10 am, 9:45 am, 10:20 am, 10:55 am and 11:30 am.

What is the route of the New York Marathon?

The 42-kilometer ring will cross the five districts into which the city is divided. It will begin on Staten Island to continue through the streets of Brooklyn Bay Ridge, Sunset Park Slope, Fort Greene, Bedford-Stuyvesant and Williamsburg. Participants will continue through Long Island City and Queens before crossing the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge to Manhattan and heading north on First Avenue to the Bronx via the Willis Avenue Bridge.

The route goes around and renews its passage through the island of Manhattan through the bridge of Madison Avenue, to then cross a stretch of Central Park, the finish of which is on the south side.
