Panic scene outside a church in New York City, United States. On Sunday, December 13, a man was shot dead by police after shooting into a crowd gathered for a Christmas carol concert.
No one in the public was touched by the gunfire around St. John the Divine Cathedral in Manhattan, according to New York Police Commissioner Dermot Shea. “Three police officers who intervened on the scene fired fifteen times in the direction of the man, whose identity was not communicated, hitting him at least once in the head“, he clarified.

A spokeswoman for the New York City Police Department had earlier said that officers used their guns after the man began shooting.
An AFP reporter who witnessed the scene reported that the man fired outside this church in Manhattan as a few hundred people began to disperse after the chanting ended. “I heard two or three detonations“, did she say. “I looked up and maybe ten meters from me on the steps there was a guy pulling“, did she say. “I saw the flames coming out of the cannon, I started to run, to save my skin“.
Another witness at the scene estimated that the man had fired eight or ten times before being shot by police. “He was shooting without aiming“she said, adding that the man was screaming”Take me down, kill me!“.
