New York City Pride March 2022: Everything You Need to Know

NEW YORK — The Pride March, one of New York City’s most traditional parades, is set to return this weekend. On Sunday, June 25, a crowd is expected to participate in the event, celebrating LGBTQ+ pride and equality.

The parade route for the New York City Pride March will begin at 25th Street and 5th Avenue. Participants will head south on 5th Avenue before turning west on 8th Street. After crossing 6th Avenue, the march will continue on Christopher Street, passing the Stonewall National Monument. It will then turn north on 7th Avenue, passing the New York City AIDS Memorial, before dispersing to Chelsea at 16th Street and 7th Avenue.

The festivities will kick off with elected officials alighting at 11 a.m., and the sirens will begin at 12 p.m. Several streets will be closed for the march, including 4th Avenue between 9th Street and 14th Street, 13th Street between 3rd Avenue and Broadway, 12th Street between Broadway and 3rd Avenue, 11th Street between 4th Avenue and 3rd Avenue, 10th Street between 3rd Avenue and Broadway, 9th Avenue between 3rd Avenue and Broadway, 8th Avenue between 3rd Avenue and Broadway, Astor Place between Lafayette Street and 3rd Avenue, Lafayette Street between East 9th Street and Wanamaker Place, and Wanamaker Place and Astor Place.

The grand marshals for this year’s Pride March include Billy Porter, a Grammy, Emmy, and two-time Tony Award winner; Yasmin Benoit, an award-winning British asexual activist, writer, and model; AND Dumlao, the Chief of Staff for Athlete Ally; Hope Giselle, a highly respected national organizer, author, and artist; and Randolfe “Randy” Wicker, a pioneer in civil rights and LGBTQIA+ activism.
