New part of the series announced for 2023

The new year has only a few hours when good news is already coming for the fans of the game. A new announcement is for would-be virtual gangsters or anyone who enjoys pulling off masked heists in ‘Payday’. Development studio Starbreeze Studios has announced new information about the planned third part of the co-op shooter series, ‘Payday 3’.

First teaser trailer released

It was already known that the “Payday” games would be expanded, but nothing else had been made public so far. However, as of today, “Payday 3” now has a store page on the Steam platform. This confirms 2023 as the release year. There is also a short first teaser for the game, which is being developed on Unreal Engine 4 together with publisher Prime Matter.

Old gang, new place

In keeping with the spirit of the season, fireworks can be seen and silhouetted figures gather in front of the backdrop of New York City at night. The video once again confirms the position of “Payday 3”. Additionally, the studio previously announced that the new game will revolve around the same four original gangster characters; Dallas, Chains, Wolf and Hoxton. The latter had not played a role in “Payday 2” (2013), instead the players were confronted with his brother Houston. The plot says on Steam: “Years after the gang’s reign of terror ended in Washington DC, they reunite to face the threat that has pulled them out of early retirement.” The video and the new part of the game are titled as “new criminal dawn”.


“Payday 3”: current problems

Looks interesting? The teaser doesn’t show much of the game, but you get an insight into the new game, Overkill Software, the makers of “Payday 2”, who are also involved in the third part, previously as “gigantic” and “lively” designated. ‘Payday 3’ should also have something new to offer technically: among other things, in-game tracking will be modernized and new gadgets will be added to the game, and there will also be media commentary describing the gang and making the world of the “Payday” rounder. Cryptocurrencies and tech giants are said to play a role in the plot, a very timely game.

Neither the trailer nor the Steam page offers a specific release date. ‘Payday 3’ will be released for PC and consoles.
