Domestic employees will have new labor benefits. What about the benefits they charge from ANSES?
The Government, through the Ministry of Labor, will implement from this Thursday, June 1, a measure that will grant pension and social security rights to registered domestic employeeswho work less than 16 hours per week.
As of this regulation, those employees of private homes will have retirement coverage with the same scope as domestic workers who have worked more hours per week. In addition, regardless of their workload, they will be able to count on unemployment insurance.
“From June 1, pension coverage will be guaranteed regardless of the weekly working hours for the workers of Casas Particulares. In this way we are equating their rights with those of workers and workers in a dependency relationship ”, said the Minister of Labor Raquel Olmos on Monday.
According to the figures compiled by the labor portfolio, official statistics register approximately 1,100,000 workers in private homes in the urban sector “who are mostly women, with a high labor informality that amounts to 78.1%, with high turnover rates and low wages”, mentioned Work.

In detail, one of the measures targets domestic workers who work less than 16 hours a week -close to 130,000- who will now have an easier time retiring.
The current retirement procedure required them to make a voluntary contribution, beyond the employer’s contributions, which, for various reasons, did not happen in practice, so that this universe was left out of the possibility of retiring. Now they will be able to do it and that contribution will be made as a discount from their retirement credit.
On the other hand, a second change to the social security system for workers in private homes will be that from the effective date of this decree they will have the right to receive unemployment insurance.

It is important to clarify that in these cases, Domestic workers who collect from ANSES the Universal Allowance for Children and Pregnancies and the Alimentar Card will not lose these benefits even if they receive unemployment insurance.
