New Engineering Brigade (BGEN) to be Established in Angers Next Summer

The new engineering brigade (BGEN) will see the light of day in Angers, during next summer.

It will be composed of the following regiments: 19th engineer regiment (19th RG), 31st engineer regiment (31st RG), 2nd dragoon regiment (2nd RD), 28th geographical group (28th GG), 132nd dog infantry regiment (132nd RIC). The 6th RG of Angers remains, for its part, in the bosom of the 9th BIMa

The BGEN, whose headquarters will be located in Angevin premises currently being prepared 2 km from the Engineering School, “ensures the supported units a high level of expertise in the specialized fields of military engineering (mobility , against mobility, mine clearance, crossing, deployment support, etc.), geography, canine technology and NRBC”, according to the Army.

This brigade is integrated into the Theater Support and Logistics Command (CALT).

Created on the occasion of the transformation of the Army, the theater support and logistics command is “a major development”.

One of the objectives of CALT is to be able to take action in the face of any kind of threat and to increase the capacity for reactivity. By integrating the different support and support functions, held by the areas of logistics, maintenance and land military engineering, the CALT ensures the coherence and fluidity of the support and support provided to the forces from the start. beginning and throughout their deployment. In the rear zone, it ensures the connection between the mainland and the theater of external operations, but above all the continuity of the operational organization of support.

BGEN missions and resources will be presented during a joint engineering day (JIAG) which will take place on Wednesday February 7, in Angers.
