US Internet TV Netflix improved its economy in the third quarter thanks to successful series. The biggest hit for customers was the series Game of Squid, which had more than 140 million views as of September this year. According to Netflix last week, this South Korean drama became his most successful original series, surpassing the British romantic series Bridgerton.

Between July and September, Netflix had 4.4 million subscribers. In total, the company has almost 214 million. Netflix expected the number of new customers to increase by only 3.5 million. The final figure also exceeded the expectations of some analysts.

Netflix increased the number of subscribers above its own expectations, while net profit rose by 80 percent year on year to $ 1.45 billion (almost CZK 32 billion). Revenue rose 16 percent year over year to $ 7.5 billion.

Netflix’s success can also be seen through its shares, which have risen 18 percent since the beginning of the year, significantly outperforming its rival streaming giant Disney +, whose shares fell more than 5 percent over the same period.

Shares of Netflix have appreciated by more than 100 percent since September 2019, to which the closed cinemas made a significant contribution. Many viewers have moved to online streaming services, which have given new viewers and more money. The production of its own content also plays a significant role in the success of Netflix.
