Neighbors of Villa Lastenia in defense of their square

March 16, 2021 – 01:00
They fear losing their green space at the hands of relatives of former owners, who would have donated the property.

During yesterday afternoon, residents of the Villa Lastenia sector of the Los Perales neighborhood convened in the plaza of the place to express their opposition to a construction work started by relatives of the former owners.

From the community they assured that the green space was donated by the owners of the property more than twenty years ago, and that they never made any improvement in the place so it was abandoned.

The neighborhood center, together with the neighbors, has since made multiple repairs to consolidate the green space where children can play. They also took charge of services and other taxes for 25 years.

In this regard, the vice president of the sector, Liliana Tolaba, said, and assured that they will not allow the construction works to be carried out and that they will go to the last consequences to try to preserve the space.

“I have lived in this neighborhood for 46 years. What is now a small square where our children play, before was an abandoned ditch. With the help of all the neighbors we managed to lift this and we are not going to allow them now to want to take away a place that it belongs to the community, “she said indignantly.

It should be noted that the relatives of the owners of the space approached the place to inform the neighbors about the future construction work and downloaded material to start the work.

“The alleged owners approached the place to claim a space that they never cared about. They locate the materials for us and bring workers to start fencing, without being interested that it is a square that belongs to the neighborhood,” Tolaba said in this regard.

“The real owner promised to donate this green space and signed a loan agreement. Now that they see it as nice and clean, they want the land, but when it was a ditch they didn’t even come close,” he added.

“We pay for the electricity and water for this space, we also locate the urban games and have the grass cut. It was all our work and those who claim to be the owners never appeared,” added Tolaba.

Finally, the vice president of Villa Lastenia said that they have already made the pertinent complaint to the local police station and expect the support of society. “We ask everyone to collaborate and support our claim because this place is for the boys,” he closed.
