NDP parliamentarian Silvana Afonsoewa did a great deal of work on Friday night in the NDP party center Ocer to the opposition and the Military Council. A special NDP meeting was held in Ocer on Friday, January 10 in the context of the news about the oil discovery in Suriname. Opposition party VHP had also indicated earlier this week that oil revenues cannot be left to a government with a corruption reputation, referring to the NDP government:
