Auctions: The Bullitt Mustang sold for 3.6 million – World

The famous Ford Mustang GT driven by Steve McQueen on the streets of San Francisco in the famous movie “Bullitt” was auctioned off for 3.6 million Swiss francs, auction house David Morton announced.

The actor himself had driven this green car that remained famous in the American imagination in this 1968 film, notably during a breathtaking chase scene.

The car was owned by 38-year-old Sean Kiernan. Her father bought it for $ 3,500 (3,400 francs) in 1974 (the price at which it symbolically went on sale Friday) and the family drove it until 1980, when the clutch broke. She had stayed in the garage until Sean Kiernan repaired it and began to expose it after the death of her father in 2014.

This car and its model (the Ford Mustang GT) are so emblematic in the United States that the manufacturer had presented in January 2018 a limited edition, called Mustang Bullitt. (Ps / nxp)
