NBA: OKC around Schröder defeated Boston Celtics and Theis

The continuation of the NBA season in the “Bubble” at Disney World in Orlando is getting closer – final test games should give the teams the necessary finishing touch.

The game between the Boston Celtics and the Oklahoma City Thunder resulted in a German duel between Daniel Theis and Dennis Schröder.

While the game went 98:84 in favor of Schröder’s OKC, Theis played the better game of the two internationals.

Theis stabs out Schröder

The Big Man scored eight points, three rebounds and three assists in 15 minutes. Schröder, who played a very strong season until the Corona break, did not find his rhythm yet and only played four points, three rebounds and two assists in 17 minutes.

The highlight of the game was undoubtedly Andre Roberson’s comeback on the part of the Thunder. Due to injuries, it was his first assignment since January 27, 2018 after 909 days, which is why his teammates also honored his substitution with a standing ovation.

Roberson had been thinking about retiring some time ago.

Simmons throws – and hits – threesomes

In another game of the day, the Philadelphia 76ers won 90:83. So far nothing unusual, but Ben Simmons not only played on Power Forward as announced, but actually tried twice from a distance.

The Australian even hit a three and was otherwise the best player on the court. In 23 minutes he narrowly missed a triple double with nine points, nine assists and seven rebounds. The 24-year-old also contributed three steals.

The Sixers’ second superstar, Joel Embiid, contributed ten points and six rebounds to the win. Teammate Tobias Harris even managed a double-double with 15 points and ten rebounds.

Harden show is not enough against Raptors

Defending champion Toronto Raptors was also in good shape and defeated the usual Houston Rockets mini-lineup with 94:83.

While Serge Ibaka convinced the Raptors with 18 points, James Harden put on his usual show at the Rockets. He got 24 points in 25 minutes and was top scorer of the game. However, the Houston superstar only met six of his 15 attempts from the field.

By the restart on July 30, Harden and the Rockets will have to step up if they don’t fall behind seventh in the West behind the Dallas Mavericks and want to risk a first-round playoff duel with the Los Angeles Clippers.
