NBA News: Minnesota Timberwolves are about to be sold

The Minnesota Timberwolves may be about to be sold. As owner Glen Taylor said in a statement on Tuesday, he asked the Raine Group to investigate a sale of the franchise.

“Ever since I bought the team in 1994, I’ve always wanted the best for fans, and I’m going to explore every opportunity to develop the ownership structure of the Timberwolves and Lynx,” Taylor said. He also added that the condition for any sale is that the franchise remains in Minneapolis.

“People asked who wanted to buy the team and then move,” said Taylor. “You are not a candidate. We made that very clear.” The platform Sportico reported that Taylor wants to get “at least $ 1.2 billion” in a potential sale.

So far it is unclear how many groups there will be to bid for the franchise. Former Timberwolves superstar Kevin Garnett, however, is part of how he himself announced on social media. “I’m part of one of the groups that are trying,” Garnett wrote Instagram, and added Twitter added: “No two people love the city more than Glen Taylor and myself and I look forward to working with him to make my dream come true.”

Vikings owners want to buy Timberwolves

Garnett and Taylor are by no means friendly, in an interview a few months ago KG even described the 79-year-old owner as a “snake”. However, Garnett had already emphasized during active times that he would like to buy the franchise one day.

According to ESPN there are probably also from the NFL competition. The Wilf family, who already own the Minnesota Vikings, also appear to be seriously interested in buying the Timberwolves. However, a decision may not be made until September.

Taylor had acquired the Timberwolves in 1994 for $ 88 million. A year later, the Timberwolves in Garnett drafted the best player in their franchise history, who became the league’s MVP in 2004.
