JAKARTA – Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission, Nawawi Pamolango, spoke up regarding the incident of fighting with Amien Rais’ son, Ahmad Mumtaz Rais on the Garuda Indonesia GA 643 flight on the Gorontalo-Makassar-Jakarta route on Wednesday, August 13, 2020.
Nawawi said he handed over the incident to the authorities as he had reported at Soekarno-Hatta Airport.

“So I thought, let what I have conveyed to the Soetta Airport Police, be the competence of the police chief and his staff to follow up,” Nawawi told reporters, Saturday (15/8/2020).
Nawawi also explained why the incident happened until he reported it to the police. He explained that at the time of the incident he was sitting in the same row with Mumtaz who was in seat 6A while he was in 6K.
“The telephone communication carried out in question took place while the plane was refueling at Makassar Airport,” he said.
Then said Nawawi, Mumtaz also communicated in a loud voice when reminded by the flight attendant crew, so that it disturbed his comfort as an airplane passenger.
Therefore, said Nawawi, he also reminded Mumtaz and this was conveyed after repeated attempts by the cabin crew to ask Mumtaz to stop calling but he was ignored.
“The first sentence I said to remind the person concerned was, ‘Mas, please obey the rules,” said Nawawi.
Unfortunately Mumtaz did not pay attention to the point where there was a dispute. Nawawi denied that the dispute was over on the plane and finally complained to the police.
“I only conveyed that I would forward his business to the authorities at the airport, so he knew very well that I would submit the report,” he explained.
“There was another party who was a friend concerned who when he was about to get off the plane said an apology, but he himself had hurriedly got off without any warning,” he said.
