National Vaccination Campaign for Minors in Medellin: Free Immunizations Available This Saturday

The beginning of the school year coincides with the implementation of the first national vaccination campaign that seeks precisely to immunize minors so that they are less likely to catch a contagious disease due to increased contact with more people and taking into account that they They are usually the main vectors.

The event will take place this Saturday between eight in the morning and four in the afternoon and for this they will enable 60 points in Medellín, according to the District Health Secretariat, which is in charge of programming together with the network of IPS vaccinators of the city.

The Secretariat clarified that the bivalent vaccine against Covid-19 will not be available, but rather that health personnel will focus on administering other types of sera and this will be done completely free of charge.

One of the vaccines that will be applied will be the one that prevents the occurrence of the human papillomavirus (HPV) and will be for girls between 9 and 17 years old.

But boys and girls over one year old and under 14 years old will also be given the additional dose against measles and rubella. And that same vaccine will be applied to health personnel.

Additionally, the District Mayor’s Office invited women between 10 and 49 years old who have a pending dose against tetanus and diphtheria to complete their schedule, with the aim of reducing the risk of being affected by these pathologies.

Likewise, he reported that he has some biologicals left against influenza Cepa Sur 2023, which is aimed at six-month-old girls and boys, pregnant women from week 14 onwards, health personnel and the rest of the population.
