National player Lukas Klostermann has prematurely extended his contract with RB Leipzig until 2024. The Saxon Bundesliga club announced on Friday. “I have been in Leipzig for six years, have made great personal and sporting developments here and have so far been able to look back on a very successful path with the club, which will definitely have potential for further success in the future and of which I would like to be part” said the 23-year-old Klostermann in a club announcement.
Defender Klostermann moved from VfL Bochum to Leipzig in August 2014 and has since made the leap into the national team. There he made his debut on March 20, 2019 against Serbia (1-1). With RB, he also celebrated promotion to the Bundesliga, reached the DFB Cup final last year and moved on to the quarter-finals of the Champions League this season. His original contract ran until 2021. Most recently, the variable defender was allegedly wooed by record champions FC Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
“Lukas is one of our absolute top performers and despite his only 23 years he is also a very experienced player who has made incredible leaps in development with us so far. We are very pleased that we have now extended his contract prematurely until 2024”, RB sports director Markus Kroesche said.
