Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia In some beliefs, the phenomenon of the sun rising from the west is interpreted as a sign of doomsday. So, is it scientifically possible for this to happen?

The United States Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) agrees that the sun rises from the west. Previously, a post on Facebook had gone viral which said the sun would rise from the West.

The Thai post shocked the virtual world in January 2021. It was written, NASA predicts the sun will rise from the West caused by the rotation of the Earth in the opposite direction.

“NASA confirms the possibility of the sun rising from the west. The earth rotates in the opposite direction causing the sun to rise from the west!!,” the text reads, quoted by AFP.

“Researchers believe that we are moving towards the opposite of the magnetic field which will lead us to the end of humanity and the approach of doomsday,” he added.

What is the fact that the sun rises from the west from NASA?

NASA opened its voice regarding a claim that the sun rises from the west. The agency said it had never issued predictions about the claim.

“Neither NASA nor any other scientific organization predicts the sun will rise from the west,” said Bettina Inclan, NASA’s Associate Administrator for Communications.

He said that the magnetic reversal phenomenon really happened and was real, and even a number of scientists had studied it. This phenomenon occurs on Earth’s neighboring planet, Venus, which rotates backwards.

Meanwhile, Venus rotates long enough, namely 243 days, and the planet’s time to circle the Sun is equivalent to 225 days on Earth.

This makes the Sun visible on the surface on Venus only twice a year or once in 117 days.
