The owner, who was staying in one of the apartments, hired the other four to teams of Romanian pimps. The prostitutes performed there sexual services, with an average price of 200 euros, in a “luxurious” decoration, after an advertisement via an Internet site. One could thus find apartments with evocative names like “50 shades of Gray”.

“About 90 prostitutes are said to have worked in the building, all of them Romanian. With word of mouth, over time, it didn’t even get on a website, but it was direct contact. Like airports, it had become a hub, ”explains Maurice Alibert, director of the SRPJ.

In Woippy and Mulhouse

On May 25, members of two teams of pimps – a team consisting mostly of a man and a woman – were arrested in Rouen, Caen and Lille. The landlord and his wife were arrested in Nancy. The network was established in several cities of the Grand Est such as Mulhouse, Woippy but also in Hauts-de-France and in the west of France. According to a meticulous schedule, the prostitutes, young adults, filmed in several apartments in these cities.

Big money and luxury cars

“At the end of the first confinement, which was particularly fruitful for prostitution, one of the female pimps bought a Porsche Panamera,” said François Pérain, the public prosecutor.

Mackerel teams received around 1,200 euros per day, per girl. An activity that is all the more profitable for the landlord. On his current account alone, the 51-year-old man, officially a VTC driver, held a little over 100,000 euros, a building estimated at 500,000 euros, a Mercedes Vito, a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and two other vehicles.

In total, he would have received around one million euros in two years. Six people were arrested and the legal action for them is underway. “Now, the number one objective is to continue the investigations and to seek the heritage in Romania”, hopes François Pérain.
