Nancy Ann Guenthner, age 86, passed away peacefully on Oct. 26, 2023, surrounded by her surviving children and family members.
Nancy was born on April 10, 1937, in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of John and Florence (Burns) Connors. She grew up in Stoughton, Massachusetts, and graduated from St. John’s High School in Canton, Massachusetts, in 1955.
On April 30, 1961, she married John Eldor Guenthner. They moved to Billings, Montana, where they made their lifelong home. They were married 55 years before John’s passing in 2016. Nancy spent the early years of their marriage raising their children, and then went back into the workforce. She worked for many years at the Yellowstone Boys Ranch and The Visiting Nurse Service. She retired from the Yellowstone City-County Health Department after 20 years. They were members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Billings.
Nancy had an artistic side and spent many years tole painting and cake decorating. Her favorite thing to paint was birdhouses, and she had a large collection of them. When Nancy wasn’t being artistic, she jumped on any opportunity to help others. Nancy was especially dedicated to the American Cancer Society, serving on its Advisory Board and being a consistent participant in the Relay for Life. You could also find her giving her time to the Billings Clinic and, of course, her beloved Wyndstone retirement community. Nancy had a heart of gold, and everyone who ever met her just adored her. She had a witty sense of humor and loved to joke and make people laugh.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Sherry (Doug) Parks of Boise, Idaho; son, Kevin (Carolyn) Guenthner of Billings; daughter, Beverly Mower of Corpus Christi, Texas; daughter, Rhonda (Eric) Dark of Greensboro, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Megan (JP) Osler, Kasey (Patrick) Irving, Parker Martin, Roland John Mower, Nicole (Riley) McCuen, Khalon Martin, Shaeleigh Mower and Lauren Guenthner; four great-grandchildren, Taren Irving, Emily Irving, Riley Osler and Connor Osler, and her very dear friend, Roland Brown.
She is preceded in death by her husband; her son, Mark Guenthner; her parents; and her brother, John (Jack) Connors.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 537 Grand Ave. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
