The deaths of two sisters who came from Saudi Arabia became international news because they were mysterious and strange. The bodies of brothers Asra and Amaal Abdullah Alsehli were found dead at their Sydney home in June.
Australian police are now investigating whether their sexual orientation was a factor in the Saudi woman’s death. A source revealed that police learned that one of the brothers had been identified as queer.
When found, the bodies of Asra and Amal were already rotting. The two were found in their beds in separate rooms. The police concluded that they had died a month earlier.

When his body was found, there was no sign of any injuries on the body or their apartment was stolen. The police still have not received an answer to the deaths of Asra and Amal so they are asking the community for help.
Now, one of the women has stated that she met the brothers in January at a queer event. The term refers to communities that identify themselves as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender.
According to the woman, whose name was withheld, Asra and Amal shared that they were living in fear in Saudi Arabia. The two talked about what it’s like to be queer in such a deeply religious country.
“They mentioned that they were from Saudi Arabia, and we talked about what it’s like to be queer there. They said women live in fear for their safety, and they are grateful to live in Australia, where they can express themselves more freely,” said the anonymous woman. it to The Guardian.
Asra and Amal fled their homeland as teenagers in 2017. They have reportedly applied for asylum in Australia.
Police believe that the deaths of the two sisters were not random crimes. Their families in Saudi Arabia are also helping with the investigation.
