Kozhikode: A young man who lived with a 23-year-old girl from Kuttyadi was arrested in connection with the mysterious death. Muhammad Amal, a native of Mavoor, was arrested. The arrest was made after interrogation led by the Assistant Commissioner this morning. A case has been registered against Amal on the charges of inciting suicide, torture by promise of marriage.
A 23-year-old woman, a native of Kuttyadi Parakkal and an employee of a private mall, was found dead under mysterious circumstances on July 13. The woman was found dead while staying with Amal in a house near Ganapathikun in Methotutthazha.
The police had taken statements from the woman’s father and relatives. The father says that Muhammad Amal, who has known the woman for one and a half years, promised to marry her and rented a house in different places. It was also informed that there is a mystery in the death of her daughter. Before the relatives of the woman arrived, the relatives had lodged a complaint with the police that the body had been removed from the place. The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Protection Committee had lodged a complaint with the DGP demanding that a special investigation team led by the ADGP investigate the case.
Last day, the State Scheduled Castes and Tribes Commission issued a notice to the district police chief to submit a report on the incident within 5 days. The commission conducted an urgent investigation and asked for a report on a petition filed by the father of the woman seeking an investigation against the person from Mavur who lived with the woman. Following this, the case investigated by the medical college police is directly investigated by the assistant commissioner.
