The line of people who each afternoon occupied one end of the Gran Via at the gates of a theater it evaporated a year ago. The same thing happened in the narrow streets of Malasaña or the neighborhood of Las Cortes, with a stage almost on every corner that once used to hang the sign of “sold out shows.” The accommodators turned off their flashlights, the applause stopped resounding in the stalls and the ticket offices lowered the windows while the citizens were secluded in their homes due to the pandemic.
