Radio 2 listeners have spoken. For them, ‘Music’ by the recently deceased John Miles is the biggest hit of all time. The song ended up in first place in the very first Radio 2 Top 2000.

At the beginning of this month, the starting signal for what is likely to be a new tradition was given on Radio 2. The top 2000, an extra long list with the – according to the listeners – greatest hits of all time. The first place was taken by Music, in tribute to John Miles, who died at the age of 72. For many, the number is inextricably linked with Night of the proms.
Queen had to give up on Miles. Bohemian rhapsody, in the previous year-end list of Radio 2 no less than ten times the winner, finished in second place. Willy Sommers was the highest ranked Belgian in the list with a bronze medal for Let the sun in your heart.
