Municipality of Eindhoven about demonstration: Stadhuisplein is full, go home | Inland

For the time being, everyone is able to keep enough distance from each other. The organization had counted on about 750 people, but there seem to be hundreds more. Meanwhile, the square is completely filled and several hundred people are still standing on a road next to the square. From there they can also follow the manifestation. On Friday, Mayor John Jorritsma had said to allow a maximum of 700 people.

As in many other cities, protesters are holding up all kinds of signs calling for an end to racism. “I am very happy with the attendance,” said Perle Miangue, one of the organizers. “It is really necessary. I have a baby boy and I already have to tell him to be on his guard. At a previous demonstration, I have already been called black cherry who must rot to his own country. I was born and raised in Eindhoven eh. The government downplays it. It is not a small phenomenon. ” And she’s gone to the microphone. “People, keep your distance. I am proud of the turnout, but keep my distance. ”

The event started at 5 pm and lasts until 6.30 pm at the latest. Shortly after the start, the protesters held a silent protest, keeping a fist clenched in the air.

Earlier on Saturday, a manifestation against racism was also held in Tilburg. About 700 people attended. The demonstration went smoothly there.
