Emergency services evacuated several floors of an apartment building on Hoofdstraat in Hoogeveen after a fire broke out on the seventh floor on Saturday evening. According to a spokesperson for the Drenthe Safety Region, it is “a fire” that releases a lot of smoke.
The fire started around 11 p.m. and was under control by 1 a.m., meldt RTV Drenthe.
The safety region says two people have been taken to hospital because of smoke inhalation. How they are doing is still unclear. Nor is it known whether and when the evacuated residents can return to their homes.
