A mural appeared on the outside wall of a second-hand bookstore in Jongno-gu, Seoul, where there was a controversy over the “Julie Mural”, which appeared to be targeting Yoon Seok-yeol, the People’s Power presidential candidate. Senior reporter Minkyu Park

Jeong Dae-taek (73), a businessman who raised suspicions of hosting Ms. Kim Kun-hee’s “Julie” in a YouTube broadcast, was sent to prosecution. Mr. Jeong is a person who once worked with President Yoon Seok-yeol’s mother-in-law and had a legal dispute with President Yoon’s mother-in-law.

Seoul Seocho Police Station announced on the 15th that it had sent Mr. Jeong to the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office without detention on charges of spreading false information about President Yoon’s mother-in-law, Choi Eun-soon (76 years), and about Mrs. Kim.

In October 2020, during a YouTube broadcast, Mr. Jeong raised suspicions about Ms. Kim’s “Julie” entertainment and rumors of living with a married man. There are also innocent allegations during the lawsuit, alleging that Mr. Choi wrongfully defrauded 2.6 billion won. Police launched an investigation in July last year following a complaint against Choi.

In 2003, Jeong and Choi, who were business partners, filed a civil and criminal lawsuit over the distribution of 5.3 billion won in bond investment proceeds from a sports center in Songpa-gu, Seoul. In this case, Mr. Jeong was tried on charges of coercion and attempted fraud, and in 2006 the Supreme Court upheld a two-year prison sentence.
