His latest challenge is therefore met with a lot of criticism. “He tortures people for money and pretends it’s entertainment.”
In the latest challenge from Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, two complete strangers will spend 100 days together in one room. That amounts to approximately three months and two weeks. The door of the minimalist room is unlocked, but if either participant leaves before the end of the 100 days, they both lose the money.
The room is completely white with blue lighting and contains two mirrors, a small sink, a tap, two simple beds and a shared toilet area. We see this in a photo that the world-famous YouTuber shares on ‘X’.

On paper it doesn’t sound bad. Sit in a room, do nothing and win $500,000. But 100 days is a particularly long time to have no contact with the outside world. Candidates are therefore not allowed to use telephones, laptops or other electronics. In addition, they do not see sunlight.
Psychological consequences
According to many, it cannot help but have a negative effect on mental health. “People are psychologically damaged in the challenge. And all for a cash prize and a YouTube video. That’s insane,” someone wrote on ‘X’. “This is really a nightmare. He tortures people for money and pretends it’s entertainment.” And also: “This challenge goes way too far. It can have serious physical and psychological consequences. How can anyone think this is okay?” However, MrBeast does not care about the criticism. He has since announced that the experiment is already underway.
The American has been working on YouTube since 2012. In 2017, he went viral when he counted out loud from 1 to 100,000 in a video, almost 24 hours long that has now been viewed 29 million times. After that, MrBeast, which now has 189 million subscribers, only became more popular. In recent years he has specialized in very expensive stunts, which usually involve giving away large (cash) prizes to viewers.
