Film:Jodie Foster wants to try other things

Hanover (AP) – For the two-time Oscar winner Jodie Foster (“Accused”, “The Silence of the Lambs”), the cinema is no longer the focus of her life.
“When I was young, I thought there was only one thing in life: making films,” the 58-year-old US actress told the editorial network Germany (RND). “But today I want to try other things that life has in store for me.”
She was happy to only take on a role “if she really means something to me and she seems important to me,” said Foster. “You know, there are really a lot of other meaningful things in life, you don’t necessarily have to be in front of a camera.” A role is important to her, “if it makes me at least a little bit better person or if the film also makes other people better”.
At the Summer Berlinale on June 9th, Foster can be seen as lawyer Nancy Hollander in the Guantanamo drama “The Mauritanier”. It is scheduled to open the Cannes Film Festival on July 6th. The festival awards her the Golden Palm of Honor.
