Everyone longs for normality that has been a thing of the past since the coronavirus pandemic broke out. Researchers calculated the necessary duration of the current measures.
- Exit restrictions, distance rules and shop closures are intended to prevent the further spread of the coronavirus *.
- The question becomes more urgent how long such measures will continue.
- Researchers are also dealing with this question – and come to a sobering conclusion. The most important thing about the topic is also on our brand new Facebook page Corona News. Become a fan now.

The complete lockdown of entire countries cannot be permanent – that is what Otto normal consumers, politicians and scientists all agree. But how can everyday life be resumed without risking new waves of coronavirus infections? Scientists worldwide are researching possible ways out of the mass quarantine. A new research project by Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston claims to have found a solution.
Quarantine measures until 2022 – this is how the coronavirus pandemic is to be brought under control
But not everyone will like this solution: In a paper published in the journal Science, Harvard researchers led by Stephen Kissler came to the conclusion that that there should be repeated phases of social distancing until 2022 to prevent further waves of infectionto keep the spread of the pandemic under control and relieve hospitals. A one-off arrangement of distance rules and exit restrictions, on the other hand, would postpone the pandemic’s peak in the fall and then bring the system to collapse, the researchers predicted for the United States. New Covid-19 cases are even conceivable until 2024, even if there will be no causal therapy against Covid-19 * or vaccines against the virus in the future. But since the immunity of the population also plays an important role, but this represents a variable that has not yet been fully researched, it has not yet been possible to make any reliable statements about the course of the pandemic.
Using one Computer simulation the Harvard researchers had simulated the course of the pandemic and analyzed using different scenarios how long the coronavirus could bring about drastic changes in our everyday lives.

Always new infections: Covid-19 should come back like flu every year
“We have found that one-off social distancing measures are not enough to ensure the presence of Sars-CoV-2 within the capabilities of intensive care capacity [in den USA] to hold, “quotes Focus Stephen Kissler:”As long as there are no other treatment options, intermittent phases of social distancing seem to be necessaryAmong other things, this is because the coronavirus is similar in distribution to influenza viruses that circulate seasonally. Researchers are currently assuming that Covid-19, like the viral flu * caused by influenza viruses, appears every year will break out again.
