Mourning in the world of Neapolitan music: he disappeared, at the age of 87, Luciano Rondinella, son of art and historical Italian singer and actor. Giacomo’s younger brother (who died in 2015), was the son of Francesco Rondinella (aka “Ciccillo) and Maria Sportelli, Franco’s sister and Giacomo’s daughter. Luciano Rondinella’s daughters also continued the family artistic tradition: Clelia Rondinella, actress (also appeared in “The ways of the Lord are finished” by Massimo Troisi), like Amelia and Francesca, known to be part of the duo “Le Rondinella”.
To announce the death of Luciano Rondinella several colleagues from the world of Neapolitan entertainment, including Giacomo Rizzo, the Neapolitan actor also known for the recent “Welcome to the South” of Claudio Bisio and Alessandro Siani, who called him on Facebook “dearest and fraternal friend”. Luciano Rondinella had made his debut as soon as an adult in the film “The gold of Naples”, by Vittorio De Sica, and then take part in several musical comedies very popular in the fifties and sixties. An accomplished singer and musician in the seventies, Luciano Rondinella in 1993 had inaugurated an innovative restaurant-stage (Girulà, defined as “the home of the Neapolitan song”) in the heart of Naples, which remained open until 2007 and where among the many who had gone on stage also Roberto Murolo, the brothers Carlo and Aldo Giuffrè and Elio Pandolfi. Many on social media are remembering him in these hours, once he learned of his disappearance in the past few hours in his home in Naples, among them the actor Giacomo Rizzo: “A dear and fraternal friend has gone”.
