Most students in Saarland do not receive any state funding

Just about 14 percent of all students in Saarland to finance their studies government funding back. This is the result of an analysis published on Friday by the Center for University Development (CHE) in Gütersloh, which also evaluated state data for 2022 for the first time.

68 percent are employed at university

According to the survey they have 85.8 percent of all Saarland students in 2022 neither student loans still initiated by the state Student loans or Scholarships claimed. Instead, according to CHE information, most students finance themselves through one Part-time job or theirs Parents. Knapp 68 percent of all men and women enrolled in the 2022/2023 winter semester in Saarland employed. In contrast, only 8.8 percent received Bafög in the state, while nationwide it was 11.5 percent.

Become nationwide nine out of ten students financially through their parents supported, more than two thirds work alongside my studies. Study author Ulrich Müller from CHE is therefore sounding the alarm: “If we leave the student financing system in Germany as it is at the moment, it will hang Study success In the future, it will increasingly depend on whether you rich parents or is enrolled in a flexible course of study Part-time job compatible is”.
