Most expensive MLS deal fixed: “Pity” Martínez signs with Atlanta United

Well on the one hand there is a lack of experienced people in many MLS teams, and by that I mean … experienced players from major leagues.

The days of sports disabled oldies are over, when older people come into the MLS, they are probably 30.
I wouldn’t count Ibra as the usual oldie, because he and David Villa would have scored goals in Europe for ages.

Giovinco also went to the States in his late twenties. MLS had to grow and needed names to make the whole thing better known. And how do you make a league bigger and better known? Right, big names.
Now the guys are getting better and better and come into the league much earlier.

ATL cannot be compared to the other teams either.
It’s an expansion team from 2016 … a time when all the old stars had come to an end.
ATL has a lot of Latino’s around Atlanta and they are crazy about football, what you notice in the stadium, at many other clubs everything had to grow over the years.
Atlanta also has no real “opponent” in the region, which is why it automatically attracts a lot of people.

That they then go to South America is also clear, because scouting was the right thing to do.
Their drafts were also a complete success, that was not the case with all clubs in recent years.
ExpansionDraft from them was good too.

And now with Martinez … he fits into the South America faction and the fans, also fits the Almiron rumors about Newcastle which supposedly offered 20Mio .. which ATL is too little .. besides the sum of the amount anyway have to submit a part to the MLS.

It gets tight anyway when I look at the international spots; P think something will happen there.
Toronto has to buy something too … now that VanDerWiel is the next international to go to Vazquez.

And an MLS team never has to worry about money … they are franchise teams, you pay to be in the league … that means you have to have money.
The problem with the MLS is not the transfer or salaries .. because there you get help from the league too .. but the rules, nationality, salary type, etc.
