Mortality rate has increased in Ukraine – State Statistics Service

41 408 239 people live in Ukraine

Since the beginning of the year, almost 300 thousand people have died in Ukraine, which is almost 60 thousand more deaths than in the same period in 2020.

In Ukraine, from January to May 2021, the mortality rate of the population increased. It exceeded the 2020 level by 25%. About it informs State Statistics Service.

Since the beginning of the year, 299,964 people have died in the country. That’s 59,997 more deaths than in the first five months of 2020. Then 239,967 people died.

Since the beginning of 2021, 109 626 people have been born in Ukraine, while last year 115 968 people were born in the same period.

The migration growth in 2021 amounted to 10,223 people (in 2020 – 7,341).

As noted in the State Statistics Service, as of May 1, 2021, 41,408,239 people live in Ukraine. Since the beginning of 2021, the population has decreased by 180,115 people.
