NEW YORK — Ambulances are a part of New York life. What many do not know is that their service costs money.
The cost of a basic life support ambulance trip, when someone calls 9-1-1, is $900. However, that could change in the spring as the Fire Department is proposing to raise that price by more than 50%, to nearly $1,350.
On the other hand, the charge per mile for the trip to the hospital or medical center would also increase from $15 to $20 per mile.
Therefore, the FDNY will carry out a public hearing on Friday so that people can participate.
In 2021 it was the last time that a price increased, and that time it was %16. If approved, the increase would take effect this spring.
