Achieving a teaching position in Galicia is not impossible, but it is not an easy task. If last year there was one place for every seven candidates, this year it will be one for every nine. And 2023 should be even more complicated: the Xunta will make changes to facilitate the stabilization of staff and interns who have been teaching for years will have preference in the competition. Ourense is the city with the fewest candidates, although teachers can choose any Galician location to take the exam. There are specialties in which it is more difficult to find a place and, as in recent years, they are the same as always. In the case of the Primary Corps, the specialties with the highest shot are Infant (417 candidates in Ourense) and Primary (406). In the first case, 180 places are offered for all of Galicia and in the second 250, with an even greater number of members in the rest of the Galician provinces. In contrast, the candidates with the most options to get a place are those of Music (21 candidates in Ourense) for 55 places in all of Galicia. Where Ourense stands out is in the specialty of French for primary school: there are 50 candidates, the second highest number of students enrolled after 55 in Santiago de Compostela. For the French language, 90 places will be offered throughout Galicia. The list is completed by the 101 Ourense who aspire to a place in English, 89 who dedicate themselves to physical education, 241 to therapeutic pedagogy and 123 to hearing and language
In the secondary body, the members do not choose a venue, so they are distributed throughout Galicia according to the specialty they have chosen. Music, contrary to what happened in Primary, in Secondary is the specialty in which it is more difficult to get a place: there are 325 candidates for only 8 places in all of Galicia. Or how it is the same, one place for every 40 subscribers. The specialty of the Mechanical Manufacture is also complicated, with 112 members for only 6 seats.
In the opposition there will also be places for inspectors, schools of plastic arts and languages.

Prospective secondary school teachers look against time for accommodation at the exam venue that assigned them. The province of Ourense will host the tests of three specialties: the city will place 836 candidates for the Spanish language from all over Galicia, who will opt for 75 places. There are up to 29 secondary specialties and there will be Ourenses who will have to travel all over Galicia next weekend. The most interesting modality is Geography and History: there are 1,185 people who will take the tests in Pontevedra. English is also numerous: 1,083 candidates who will have to go to A Coruña.
