More than 100,000 doses of the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine have already been distributed to five hospitals, including those belonging to Jackson Health System in Miami and Memorial Healthcare System in Broward County, north of Miami, while the first vaccine against the COVID-19 in Florida was given this Monday to a nurse at the Tampa General Hospital, on the state’s west coast.
The probable federal authorization of Moderna’s vaccine is expected in the coming days, which would allow health workers in more than 150 hospitals in the state to start receiving the drug soon, The Miami Herald newspaper said on Tuesday.
Jackson Memorial Hospital was one of the hospitals chosen to receive the first round of Pfizer vaccines due to its high number of coronavirus cases.
